Southern Fencing Region is holding a number of Safeguarding and Welfare courses on Sunday 20th May 2018 at St Gabriel’s School, Newbury (times to be confirmed). These courses will be run by the British Fencing Equality and Safeguarding Manager Liz Behnke.

  • British Fencing – En Garde!…Ready?

British Fencing believe that the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility, particularly when it comes to protecting children from abuse. Everyone in fencing – administrator, club official, coach, parent, friend, children themselves, everyone – can help.

British Fencing strongly recommends that all clubs offering fencing to under 18’s and vulnerable adults to have a Welfare Officer in place who is not connected to any coach within the club. It is now also prerequisite of an event registration to have a nominated Event Welfare Office.

If any person, club, county official, event manager would like further information on the role of a welfare office or details of the course please email our regional Welfare officer (Lorna Cooke) on

If you would like to book any of the courses please book through British Fencing:
