Cadet Winton

Selection itself comprises of a number of factors which include:

  • rankings and results at the date of selection
  • participation in the Region’s development pathway
  • a member’s ability to work with and be part of a team

The Southern Region aims to pick the team as fairly as possible by using the national and regional rankings
to base decisions on. The order in which the ranking and results are used is listed below:

  1. Senior, junior and cadet rankings
  2. British Youth Championship results
  3. England Youth Championship results
  4. Regional and County result

Where there are no ranking information places may be assigned at the selector’s discretion based on the knowledge and understanding of fencers within the region. While the aim is to field as strong a team as possible there is scope within the selection to include ‘development’ team members.

Fencers will be selected from those who are registered with British Fencing as ‘Southern’ and or live or attend school in the region.

Fencers born 2002 and later are eligible to fence (there is no minimum age).

Registered clubs, coaches and fencers will be advised when the selection process opens and the closing date by which names for consideration should be submitted.

All recommendations and personal interest for team selection should be registered with the Cadet Winton Team Manager. The final selection will be ratified by the Southern Region Selection Committee.

Selected fencers will be informed by email and are expected to confirm their place on the team and make payment within 7 days or an alternative selection will be made.
